Sjaak (83) and Clara (72) Sies founded the very first Dutch Food Bank in 2002 and have since continued to dedicate themselves to helping Rotterdammers in poverty – from soup kitchens to Social Cafés. Now that they are getting on in years, it is becoming increasingly difficult to let go of their life’s mission, especially now that help is still so desperately needed. Fortunately, new volunteers are stepping forward – themselves once helped by Sjaak and Clara – who want to follow in their footsteps. In this way, the film offers a hopeful look at important themes such as poverty and inequality in our society.
